Broad and Enabling IP Estate

MDRNA is the single company with the breadth of intellectual property to enable RNAi based therapeutic approaches to all human diseases utilizing both multiple siRNA constructs and multiple delivery technologies. We have an intellectual property estate that:

• Covers both Dicer and RISC length substrates, which are distinct from a standard RISC length siRNA
• Covers Dicer and RISC meroduplex siRNA
• Protects Dicer and RISC length sequences against 140 validated human disease gene targets
• Protects a novel combinatorial, aminolipid library in a novel liposome delivery System
• Covers RNA-peptide conjugates
• Protects a library of novel delivery peptides

The Company has in-licensed key patent rights including the seminal Fire & Mello patents which permit the use of double stranded RNA to induce the RNA interference pathway for therapeutic uses. We have also in-licensed the City of Hope patent estate which grants MDRNA non-exclusive rights to Dicer length siRNA for the treatment of all human diseases (less certain infectious diseases) as well as exclusive rights to five named respiratory viral targets. MDRNA has also built a significant patent portfolio based on internal innovation which includes one issued patent, 27 U.S. applications and 93 PCT applications covering siRNA constructs, chemistry, delivery, gene targets and target families, and therapeutic indications.
